Well now that Christmas has come and gone, and Santy is buried back in the swamp, (I will not disclose his wereabouts) should I bring back the Easter Bunny or leave him pushin' up daisy's? B.T.W. the Easter Bunny got what he got cause the sumbitch was tearin' up my garden and leavin holes and "bunny pebbles" all over the place! Anyway, I had found out a bit ago a friend of mine died last night in a car wreck. His girlfriend's mother had told me that she asked why God takes all the good people? Interesting question. To some, this may be a sign of the Rapture where it is said all the "CHRISTIAN'S" will be the first to go upon Jesus' return. He was by no mean's a Christian in the sense he was pure, but he was a good guy. Rather ironic that I start a thread about religion and this will be the second funeral I'll be going to in less than a month. So, what are yall's thought's about the end times?

I for one believe that God knows what day you will die. I believe He knows that before anyone is even conceived. I don't think it matters where you are, what you are doing or anything else. Only that when it is your time.........it is your time. Nothing you can do about that. I believe God has complete control over living and dying.

Ya'll stop and think how many time's you've cheated death. Those that know me, know I have several time's. One incident in particular (same scenario as my buddy who died early this morning) to where I can't pass a metal detector, lol. Tell your stories and explain why or how it is you cheated death other than, "it wasnt my time yet."

Hmm, 1987 my unit was supposed to do a jump(parachute) after a tank was lapsed from the same aircraft for a capability excercise show for civilians. At the last minute someone decided that my unit wasn't famous enough, so we were replaced by the 82nd airborne. During the tank drop, due to load master error, the tank rolled forward making it impossible for the pilot to level out. The plane struck the runway and exploded. There were no survivors even though my unit who were now watching from the side tried to approach the inferno. The thought that except for some beurcrats whim I was supposed to be in the conflagragation messed with my head for awhile. Time and unforseen occurences.

There have plenty of times for me. All I can say is that it is only through Gods' grace that any of us survived adolescence. How many times have we made a driving mistake? How many times have we done something without a second thought and then later realized that it could have cost us our lives? I believe you die when God says so. I believe that's why some people die in a fender bender and other people survive a grinding car crash. Some people die from a 20 foot fall and others survive 40 foot falls. All sorts of weird death/survival stories. For me, there is no other explanation.

Hmmm....Maybe I survived a head-on when another didn't who was in my car because God wanted me to do his work. I'll be more than happy to be the vengeful hand of God, lol. Perhap's it was because of a seat belt (even though I damn near kicked the bucket) or maybe because I had dream/vision while in a coma that I needed to serve God by possibly protecting other's. Maybe this is why I chose to be a Soldier and a convict guard. They both are warrior's whose mission it is to protect other's even at your own expense. WEIRD!

B.T.W. I sought to be a cop or convict guard. Not because it's the only thing around here that pay's anything. But rather, I'm drawn to hazardous job's where innocence may be involved. Funny thing is, I HATE with a passion, society as a whole, but feel the need to "look out" for them.

Well Knuck, maybe God did tap you on the shoulder. Perhaps there is something specific He wants from you. Something you were born to deliver. If I had survived a car crash like that, I think I might be inclined to know without a doubt there is a God. And that God for some reason wasn't ready to take you. That could be something you may never know. Perhaps He was just trying to get your attention; perhaps He was trying to get someone else's attention; ..........who knows?

So, what do you all think about the ressurection story? I mean that's what Christianity is based on. Some say Jesus didn't die on the cross. Other's say his remain's were moved to prevent the Roman's or Jewish "puppet's" at the time from destoying it.

There is a mixed bag of stories surrounding Jesus' resurrection. I do believe that He was ressurected. His body and soul were resurrected simultaneously.

there are many myths to the resurrection. Some say the body of Jesus was stolen, others say that Jesus fainted on the cross, and then when he was in the tomb, recovered and left on his own, others say the the witnesses were hallucinating.
It is hard to believe that a myth could have so many people believing and convinced to the point of being put to death for their belief. Hundreds of witness say they saw Jesus alive. In fact 500 did in one instant(1 Corinthians 15:6).Many of the eye witnesses were the most hostile people toward Christianity, yet upon seeing with heir own eyes they went and told everyone that Jesus had risen.
Historical events point more and more to The belief in the resurrection. The first apostle creed was written 3-7 years after the resurrection. The 4 Gospels were written 21 years after the resurrection. and 1st Paul was written 25 years after the resurrection. Some say the 4 gospels are contradictory of each other on the resurrection. Instead of contradictory , look at them as complimentary of each other, each from a different vantage point.
If you buy into the body being stolen, then who stole it, the Romans or the Jews? Why would they steal it, they would not want Jesus Followers to be able to Proclaim he rose from the DEAd. Makes no sense that they stole it. Jesus followers steal it, nah for what to be beating, imprisoned, why would they sacrifice so much for a lie.
Jesus fainted on the cross, only someone who does not understand why death by crucification would look like would say this one. Crucification would have caused dehydration, asphyxia, and congestive heart failure.how could someone in this state , roll a rock away.He couldn't.
The resurrection is the source of my hope , my inspiration and confidence that their is nothing that god can not accomplish. The power of his resurrection is still at work in our lives, constantly drawing us through his death to resurrection,in even the smallest area of our lives. The resurrection happened.

Thank you Taz, the Eucharist is the source and summit of my faith. The resurrection of JesusChrist is one of THE crucial elements of my faith.
In every area of our life that we are willing to make Jesus Christ Lord and Redeemer and Savior, He will "affect" us with the Paschal Mystery, dying and rising with Him.
It’s the "rhythm" of the spiritual life, dying and rising, dying and rising.
And ultimately this rhythm is just an image of our eternal destiny; we die to this human life, only to rise again to eternal life on high. Colossians 3:1-3
