this is the best thread on here....i have attended mormon, episcopal, methodist, holiness, assembley of god and various denomination of baptist, ie, freewill, southern, etc. it good to see the debate. i love a verse from a poem that was believed to have been dated as far back as 1692..and written by a monk.....here is a line from that poem.."Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
this bears meaning more today than ever in history.....if you would like to read the whole poem, it is called "DESIDERATA"....keep posting.....this is better than sunday school

Oldtimer, I'll take that as a compliment (best thread on here). Bet you never thought in a million years someone like ME could've started a thread like this. I was watching on the news last night, about the movie "Flight 93". One of the victims' father was being interviewed about how close the movie was to real life. The old man stated his son was a man of faith. A good Christian and the movie to a certain extent, portrayed him as such, without being overbearing. My view is, who cares if he was a "Christian"? If that plane was full of Muslims, the same outcome would've happened. The Jihadists don't care what religion you are. Or even what sect of Islam you are. If you're not with them, you're against them. To hell with religious ideals, hunt them down and kill em all. Like the MURDERERS they are.

The one aspect of all religions is prayer, no matter your faith. I believe in the power of prayer particularly the prayers of people who strive to know the Lord. The people on here definitely strive. With that I would like to make a prayer request. Please, ask the Lord to touch Martha with his loving grace. Thank you.

Prayer does work? YES Perhaps because the person praying believes that by a sheer act of will one can make better things happen? YES Mankind we are our own worse enemy, and so often we fail to conceive even the simplest of ideals. B = Basic I = Instructions B = Before L = Leaving E = Earth
Doesn't matter the destination, life is the journey. Do good things and good things will be done too you. Pass along your humanity not your insanity. God gave us Commandments not suggestions. Sorry haven't had breakfast
Who is Martha? and what am I asking to be helped her with?

My mother Jester and the doc's say its inoperable. I read somewhere that Jehovah answers prayers in 3 ways. 1)yes. 2)not yet. 3)I have a better idea. I like that.

Would those answer come to a man before, or shortly after, during ,,while jumping off a sixteen story building?
Seemed like a good ideal at the time. ;D ;D ;D
I lost my brother just a little over a year ago. You have my thoughts, and could I do more just ask.

Who's all set to go and see the Divinci Code? Dan Brown gives a twisting plot to a FICTIONAL story. I read the book and really didn't come away impressed. I read it as a fictional story. Why is it people are looking at this book thats been around for ever, and thinking Brown has some secert insight into the truth? He may propose some interesting ideas, but it's still a work of fiction. Some people seem to be finding hidden meanings in it.

saw a sneak preveiw last night and must tell you I have one word for it. BORING. The book was much better reading if one is intellegent enough to know it is fiction. Glad I did not have to pay for the movie. In a coouple of weeks X MEN is coming out, and this hyped movie will fad out.

You are a better person that me Knuck and Lizzy. I never read the book just because it seems to be better toilet paper. I think it is disrespectful in nature and was completely unnecessary. As for the movie......I didn't read the book so why would I want to see it?

The History Channel has been playing shows all week long that have to do with that book. Now, some points are interesting, but as a non follower of Christianity I look at it as people trying to uncover "truth" that really isn't there. Do you really need the Grail to be a believer? NO.

Okay saw the movie, now I need to see a priest. I mean could I ever believe someone long ago decided what my beliefs should be? Or what rules I should follow? Sounds more like a Declaration. (Ha Ha) Seriously this did give me some food for thought. Question Why is it that in the bible Jesus goes from being twelve talking on the temple steps, to thirty and begins performing miracles? Do you believe there were other books of the bible? An if so were they removed, and why?

Jester, the books you seek that were taken out of the Bible are called the Apocrypha's. They were taken out because they were either a threat to the Church, considered to be fictional, or a threat to Christianity itself. There are 14 books taken out of the Old Testament that I know of, and 4 out of the New. A REAL Catholic Bible, should contain all the books from the Old Testament, to include the missing or hidden books. You'll have to search through the previous pages, but I posted some sayings that were out of the book of Thomas. This is a book that is an Apocryphal text out of the New Testament.
