WASHINGTON DC — According to freelance journalist Wayne Madsden, “George W Bush’s blood lust, his repeated commitment to Christian beliefs and his constant references to ‘evil doers,’ in the eyes of many devout Catholic leaders, bear all the hallmarks of the one warned about in the Book of Revelations–the anti-Christ.”
Madsen, a Washington-based writer and columnist, who often writes for Counterpunch, says that people close to the pope claim that amid these concerns, the pontiff wishes he was younger and in better health to confront the possibility that Bush may represent the person prophesized in Revelations. John Paul II has always believed the world was on the precipice of the final confrontation between Good and Evil as foretold in the New Testament.
Before he became pope, Karol Cardinal Wojtyla said, “We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through. I do not think that wide circles of the American society or wide circles of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel.”
The pope worked tirelessly to convince leaders of nations on the UN Security Council to oppose Bush’s war resolution on Iraq. Vatican sources claim they had not seen the pope more animated and determined since he fell ill to Parkinson’s Disease. In the end, the pope did convince the leaders of Mexico, Chile, Cameroon and Guinea to oppose the U.S. resolution.
Madsen contends that “Bush is a dangerous right-wing ideologue who couples his political fanaticism with a neo-Christian blood cult.”

A few years ago, there was a teacher was teaching her second grade class. She absolutely loved her class, except there was this one kid who was kinda quiet and tended to have different ideas than the rest of his class.
One day just before Easter, she asked her class what their favorite parts of Easter were. One girl said chocolate bunnies, a boy mentioned dying Easter eggs, and yet another said Easter baskets. Then the quiet boy timidly raised his hand. The teacher, surprised that he was volunteering an answer, called on him. He replied, "An empty plastic Easter egg." Of course, the entire class laughed at him. The teacher even had to conceal her own amusement as she asked, "Why is that your favorite part of Easter?" He answered, "Because it reminds me of Jesus' empty tomb." The class stopped laughing and went Silent,
Happy Easter may we all be ever mindful of that empty tomb.

Today is Good Friday. When I was a kid, I used to get confused on this day. I couldn't understand why they a "good" Friday when today is the day Jesus was killed. What's so good about that? If you don’t believe in Christ, then today doesn’t make sense. It makes Christians look absolutely ridiculous for paying so much attention to their leader being killed and being reminded of his suffering all over again. But that's why the scriptures say that it is a stumbling block for unbelievers, while we see it as a victory. Why a victory? Because the greatest feat – that of Jesus rising from the dead – could NOT HAVE HAPPENED if he didn't suffer and die first. So when you look at Christ crucified today, see the hope that will come from his sacrifice for you and me. Spend time in silence and prayer today, seeing the suffering Christ.
may the peace of a Risen Jesus always be with you all.

Lizzy being raised Catholic I never thought about why it was called Good Friday but I do remember as it being a very solemn day around the house. We were not allowed to watch T.V., listen to music or sing. I remember once that I was dusting and accidentally ::)opened a music box that was sitting on my Mom's dresser. I thought that I had committed the biggest sin. I was about 8 years old and it scared the piss out of me!!! But on Easter Sunday it was such a great day for celebration and I still can feel the excitement.

Grouchy, I so remember the Solemnity of this day, I was raised in the catholic school system and we had no school on Friday because the Nuns spent the day in prayer. I remember mom would take us to church at 3pm , the time of Jesus death.I remember watching people kiss a cross that two kids were holding and thinking, this is weird. How time changes us, today at 3 I took my children to church, and now they are both alter servers. Today I watched people kiss a cross during veneration, and this time I thought how humbling this was for me. You see the two kids holding this cross were my own two children.I was sitting in the back of the church, watching the congregation walk up to my children, and kiss this cross. the feeling I got when it was my turn to kiss the cross, was very powerful. I explained this to the kids on the way home from church, and lol they said OK but it is weird to kiss the cross. My prayer is one day they experience what they helped me experience today. may peace be with you all.

It took awhile to read all the posts on this thread, but well worth it. Didn't know we had so many brainiacs in the D C. I guess its true that when you go to prison ya find heaven or hell. I have traveled around the world a few times courtesy of Uncle Sam and am a heartbreaker and a lifetaker. But, that was another life, another time. To me all religion is right and wrong. Man does have a spark, whether it is divine or evolved or even extraterrestrial. Who knows, who cares?I won't fault anybody that believes. But I will argue that just because you are born in another country and your god or gods are false cause they are not the same as mine is an asinine point of view. We are all part of the human race and we are all different. That and only that is what makes us great.
To the people that hide behind religion to commit atrocities, you are just plain stupid and need to be erased from the gene pool. More evil has been committed in the various names of "God" than Atilla, Genghis, Hitler, Stalin and Napoleon combined. Ever hear of the "children's crusade"? Now that was a real winner.
Humans are capable of such great things, why do we have to be so cruel to those who don't believe the way we do. Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed-all were spiritual leaders trying to show the rest of us the true path to enlightenment. But we remain troglodytes [Pax knuckledragger] and refuse to see.
In the new testament, the disciples ask Jesus "How is it that you can perform these miracles." Did he say God made it happen? No, his reply was " Oh ye of little faith, if you had but the faith of a mustard seed, you too could do this." If we have faith in ourselves there are no limits. But we must accept others for what they are, not what we think they should be.

God was an Alien?, must say i agree. As for good Friday is not the Celebration of Jesus Suffering for us? An after his death the curtain in the Temple came down so we could speak directly with God? As for the spirit of Humanity that should be cultivated in all of us,,YES. We know their is power in belief, yet we as a society shun or ostracize those that exhibit these gifts. Mankind is capable of so many great things, we are just afraid to allow ourselves to do them.
In the bible in Genesis there were two trees, one for eternal life, the second was knowledge. God's anger was because man chose to eat of the second. We then and now were not ready or deserving of either. Sit a child down in front of a candy bar and say "If you don't eat that when I come back you can have two." Eight out of ten will be eaten in less than twelve minutes. An would some one care to explain what a temple prostitute is for?
God is or was an Alien? might explain the extra organs we are born with. Six days to create the world? I believe more deeper than my words convey for I have seen the face of God. So I know the rapture is near. My only regret will be the sudden and terrible changes my children will endure. An why because in God we trust,,only not in school or public.
Forgive me God has

Would someone show me where in the bible is the rapture? All I can find is that before the tribulation 144,000 would be taken. One in the field and soforth. I cannot find anywhere that millions of belivers will be gathered.

1 Thessalonians Chapter 4 1 Finally, brothers, we earnestly ask and exhort you in the Lord Jesus that, as you received from us how you should conduct yourselves to please God--and as you are conducting yourselves--you do so even more. 2 For you know what instructions 1 we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 3 2 This is the will of God, your holiness: that you refrain from immorality, 4 that each of you know how to acquire a wife for himself in holiness and honor, 5 not in lustful passion as do the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 not to take advantage of or exploit a brother in this matter, for the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you before and solemnly affirmed. 7 For God did not call us to impurity but to holiness. 8 Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not a human being but God, who (also) gives his holy Spirit to you. 9 On the subject of mutual charity you have no need for anyone to write you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another. 10 Indeed, you do this for all the brothers throughout Macedonia. Nevertheless we urge you, brothers, to progress even more, 11 and to aspire to live a tranquil life, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your (own) hands, as we instructed you, 12 that you may conduct yourselves properly toward outsiders and not depend on anyone. 13 We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, 3 will surely not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together 4 with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore, console one another with these words.
