I think u missed the irony Lawton. What I meant was you are a scab son-of-a bitch who is only interested in dividing and not uniting. Sorry if it went over your head you low life POS you! Be sure to let me know what bargaining unit you are promoting so I, like you, can work against them.

If you STOOD by YOUR UNION, and were ACTIVE, and STOOD UP, WE WOULD NOT BE WHERE WE ARE!! IDIOT!!!!! ;D No clowns like you have and especially anybody that put this joke of a union for Florida state officers in. We are now paying the price for officers like you being naive. Maybe you clowns can invite DCF employees to meet up with you to have a party since that is where we are now under this joke of a union now getting addressed along with DCF. It appears the Teamsters were played for fools plain and simple. But hey ra ra ra you can do it - just ignore we appear to be lost - you can make it happen send your check in - raises will fly in just listen to our truck drivers they know best for officers.

Lawton you do know why the DCF is being "lumped in" with DOC staff right? The Institutional Security Specialist that work at the state mental hospitals are certified correctional officers, and they are part of the security services bargaining unit, (they were under the PBA contract and they are under the Teamster's contract).

IF they still do that you can always do what old timers do. Not work for six months and burn sick leave before you retire. I can't tell you how many I have seen do that. Meet them some place and the conversation goes like this; "Hey sarge how you doing?" " I am stressed out. My blood pressure is high as a kite." A week after retirement; "Hey sarge how ya doing?" "Life is great I am in good health and the state sends me a check every month."

The leave grievances are about to go to arbitration. The Charlotte County Fire Department just got awarded $800,000 from the county in back pay due to a contractual raise they were supposed to receive, and didn't. They won that in the arbitration stage because the county was not going to side with them to begin with. We are in the same boat, as far as the leave goes. The 3% is still in the hearing stages. This can take several months, as they have to schedule several hearings, call on witnesses, submit evidence, subpoena information or people, and prove how the state is stealing from it's employees. This lawsuit could have taken longer, had we had to appeal it to several courts, before it made it to the supreme court.

So the plan all along was to cheat us out of 75% of our A/L that builds up while we beg for S/C time off !!! Doument all deniles and copy them to your B.A. I gess we will have to see if the Teamsters file a law suite on this. That is EXACTLY the Teamsters intention. They plan on getting copies of our denied leave slips, and attach them to a law suit they plan on filing if the grievance they have filed is not properly answered, or settled within our favor. Gov. Scott is going to try and screw his state employees, as much as possible. He is particularly trying to mess with the FDOC because of his promises to privatize having failed previously. He wants all the old timers to get mad and either retire earlier, or outright quit. The Younger people are quitting left and right as is already to run to the counties, which in all honesty are not all better. That will leave us with those who either have no option, or are to beaten down to care. With the workforce of FDOC leveled, they then plan on exposing how inefficient or ineffective it will be, and try and show that the private companies can do better. The fact that they keep messing with our benefits shows that he KNOWS he won't get it any other way, and is scared of looking bad for his buddies. Guarantee when he fails at privatizing us while he is the Gov., these private companies that gave him"campaign" fundage will be after him one way or another.

So if I quit today I'll get paid for all 228 hours of S/C and 240 of A/L plus 25% of my S/L. If I stay I lose 75% of my A/L over 360 and hope to win in a possable lawsuite. God I love this job! No protest line. No media coverege. Just sit and hope things get better. Florida Department of Corrictions- Take It Or Leave It

It's not whining if it's true. I'm doing the same as you at my place. I just think we (Teamsters) could raise a little dust. Maybe get some media attention. Let the Public (The people we work for) know how we feel. I have already talked to my B.A. to try to get things started. A one man protest line is a sad thing.

Drakua I really wish there had been your kind of passion back when things were less bad. This post is not PBA VS Teamster by the way. But back when PBA was in there was not 1/5 of the passion you have displayed in that post. I applaud what you posted. I agree with what you posted. No that does not change my distrust of the national part of the organization, but that post is an immensely great statement and the organization should use it in it's entirety to sway support from even the naysayers like me.

A one man protest line is a sad thing. That has always been the problem when it comes to the problems faced by staff. One gets slammed for discipline and everyone says this and that about it being wrong. yet nothing is actually done. Then other things not only creep up but run right up and bites everyone because no one stood up sooner. all it takes for tyranny to succeed is for good men to do nothing.
