Same here lostinspace. I lost faith in PBA years ago and couldn't see myself continuing paying ever rising dues to an organization that has only one interest. SELF INTEREST!

I felt the same way as everyone else and dropped them years ago. But now I am paying $5000.00 out of my pocket for defense. I might have to re-think that part of the bargain. Maybe they aren't representing us in the manner in which they should but it ain't easy to pull 5000.00 out your ass with a quickness. lol Just a little something to think about.

Good point Ynot. Although I have been critical of PBA I would urge caution before you drop them, for a couple of reasons. One is that I have seen them pull many an officer's A$$ out of the fire when mistakes have been made. I myself used them a couple of times and both times they did come through for me, not for anything I did, but for what the administration was trying to do to me and others several years ago at FSP in regards to taking away desirable days off and giving them to the softball players and "A$$ kissers from New River CI" back when Crosby was the Warden there (And his former Senior Adviser John Palmer who was then the admin Lt. and "brains" behind this incident was there too). If you quit PBA then you are playing right into McDonough's hands. That is exactly what he wants you to do. Take these so-called "physical assessments". Do you really think that McDonough gives a $hit about our physical well being? No! This is about 1) making the union irrelevant or 2) breaking the union all together. As ineffectual as you think PBA is, McDonough sees them as threat. Ynot I wish you luck in your fight against this tyrant that is now running this dept and I just want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you and the others from Hendry who were unjustly fired . And to everybody else I urge that we close ranks and unify and hang together because if we don't then we will indeed all hang separately.

Yes it is a little to think about. PBA and Charlie Crist had an agreement for Law enforcement Pay Raises. We need to pick at the Senate President and The Speaker of the House, those are the real villains of this. Yet those same leaders allowed Billions of Dollars of Pork projects to go through (Enough to fund a 20% raise for all state employees) Someone needs to fry the bacon and give the workers what they deserve and not pay the special interests groups.

You can't drop PBA...
Sure, we didn' get a raise this year, but at least we can still grow our facial hair!!!
Wonder how much in member dues did they spend on litigation for that...?
Yeah, and the 2.5 million that was spent to get Governor Crist elected...

I dropped PBA years ago when I had a situation and they wouldn't even help me. I decided then and there that my money could be spent elsewhere.

Just recently dropped PBA,reason being I was involved in a federal civil case and was not impressed with the Attorney assigned to me so i contacted good ole Hal and spent my money to mail him copies of the case only to recieve a reply that a PBA Attorney had been assigned to monitor only the process. I can monitor it myself i don't need there help to monitor what another Attorney is doing. And ironically enough the letter ending saying if I had any questions feel free to contact this person assigned to monitor the case. The only problem is there was no name on the paper or telephone number so maybe i can use my telepathic powers to link up to Hal's little mind and poof i'll have it. Crazy little PBA people go get your money eldewhere you sure got enough of mine over the years.
