www.tallahassee.com/article/20130428/POLITICSPOLICY/304280025/Legislators-agree-pay-raise-plan-state-workersWell it looks to be 99.9% official now Teamsters backed COs left out of extra compression raises. So we get the same raise as any state worker making under 40k. That will cost me about an extra $ 1,800. We will continue to be left out as long as we have the Teamsters who won't spend the dues money the right way to have any pull whatsoever with the Florida legislature leaders ,besides not knowing what they are doing, who will be in place for a few more years at least. The PBA at least plays the game no matter who is in charge and even a change in Governor wont change anything because the legislature creates the budget not the Governor - he just has a veto pen which can only take things not give them. "House and Senate budget negotiators Saturday agreed to raises for state workers, the first in six years. The deal would provide a $1,400 pay hike for state employees who make less than $40,000 a year and $1,000 for those who earn more than that. In addition, bonuses of up to $600 would be available as merit incentives, which would be available to up to 35 percent of employees. In a move sought by Senate budget chief Joe Negron, R-Stuart, the pay package unveiled Saturday includes an additional 3 percent pay raise for law enforcement officers working for state government, and another 2 percent pay hike for officers with more than five years’ experience.Negron said he wanted to raise salaries to help retain experienced officers, who are often hired away by municipal police forces once they get trained by the state."

*ATTRITION: According to FDLE’s Criminal Justice Agency Profile Report, the attrition rate was almost 18% for DOC Corrections Officers in 2011. DOC hired 6,432 officers in 2010 and 2011. The attrition rates for Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE @ 7%), Florida Highway Patrol (FHP @ 9%) and Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC @ 5%) were significantly lower. *VETERAN TO ROOKIE PAY: According to FDLE’s Criminal Justice Agency Profile Report, the difference in pay between an officer and a sergeant with FHP, FWC or FDLE is almost 7 thousand dollars per year, while the difference between the pay of a Corrections Officer and Corrections Sergeant is just above 2 thousand dollars per year. *DANGERS OF THE JOB: According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, five (5) Correctional Officers, five (5) FHP Officers, three (3) FWC Officers and 0 FDLE Agents lost their lives in the line of duty between 2003 to 2013.
Interesting tidbit on attrition Negron is way off base.

FDC $7,000.00 from CO to Captain. If you want monies and prestige you need to terminate your employment with FDC. I have to stop typing before I say what I would really like to say, I can not afford to be fired at this time.

Interesting tidbit on attrition Negron is way off base. He is right about them having bad attrition but chooses to not highlight our much worse attrition and the fact that a jail deputy makes exactly the same as a road deputy in almost every county where they are county employees. I think the reason is simple. The PBA played the game with Negron and them to get their people extra this year while the Teamsters didn't. The same thing happened when FHP went to IUPA for some years. The PBA people got more than FHP did until they returned to the PBA I heard from people.
