Well I got a slight ray of hope today on the pay raise issue as I am in Sen Negron's district and stated that in my e-mail to him and he gave me a personal reply instead of the canned response I got from Sen Gaetz and some others.
He basically said he likes hearing from his constituents on issues and I made some good points and he will discuss the pay raise disparity issue in negotiations at conference. He definately was not promising anything however.
If any of you are in his district let him know that in the e-mail. Maybe using the word constituent gets it actually to him or they are checking the IP address maybe for location. When contacting your own legislator it would probably be a good idea also.

Not to burst your bubble or anything but the way the get your information to determine if you're their constituent or not is from typing in your address to send the email, which you have to do. On a side note I also got good news from his rep in the Tally office that stated he was for giving state CO and CPO's raises. But your response was probably just a canned constituent response...

I sent it from my personal e-mail to his direct e-mail address instaed of the form so I am not sure. It was definately a human responding but could have been canned but I doubt it with how it was written. That is good news - We need to focus on the House guys also as we don't need them using that as their exuse if they do mess us over.

The house is where it seems we are the weakest now, even though they are the ones that should be for us, especially in a high state employee district. Good news is that normally the senate budget is the one that gets priority. We just need to remember those who don't vote to get us raises come election time.

Good news is that normally the senate budget is the one that gets priority. We just need to remember those who don't vote to get us raises come election time. I sent e-mails to McKeel and Weatherford today to make a case for compression raises for us also. You never know if it helps I guess. Conflicting messages today = The Tally Democrat article said the Senate might be considering pushing to give us a 3% compression raise on top of the regular raise but Gaetz later in his media availablity just said they were negotiating with the House with what passed on the floor that had extra raises for some law enforcement were his words so I dont know where we stand. Gaetz wasn't specifically asked about us however. This stuff drives me crazy and really ticks me off sometimes. I have nothing against most Teamsters but I sure have a problem with their business agents and lobbyists because I am convinced by their talk and their memos and the rest that they didnt even act on this issue until it was out the PBA was getting their officers compression raises in the budget. They were pushing that 7% no chance bill for all state employees ignoring the fact that in past good years compression for officers is what the legislature showed they were willing to do in some good budget years (and in FL Compression raises arent given through Collective Bargaining meetings). Almost 3 billion in reserves they will have now and we possibly might get left out since this wasn't acted on early enough imo. Well I blew some steam off and hopefully we pull this out somehow. ;D

Saw raises discussed today in a Tampa paper and they say they may give more to under 40k than over 40k with Negron now maybe wanting that but the only mention of compression raises was still just the PBA State Officers getting them.

Over 148 million dollars was freed up today from budget allocations due to agreement in teacher pay raises between house and senate. No excuse whatsoever for lawmakers not to get that 30 million now to help us out.

When does the final budget / appropriations get set? I am not sure of the exact date but it looks like the final budget to be voted on will probably come out early next week. They just kicked up any remaining issues to the Appropriation heads Negron and McKeel where they and Gaetz and Weatherford will settle all final issues.

Alright thanks.
Also, since it's been so long since we've gotten a raise (no matter what the final percentage happens to be) do you remember how long it takes the state to actually apply it to our paychecks?
I know the new fiscal year starts July 1, but I'm not sure if they got the stuff out with the very next check after July 1st of not.

The senate version is retroactive to January 1 of this year, the House version doesn't kick in until November.

Looks like we will be left out !!! thefloridachannel.org/video/42513-press-availability-with-senator-joe-negron/This evenings interview At the 2:43 mark Sen Negron is giving Sen Gaetz's response that they are helping COs by giving lower paid state employees a higher raise than higher paid state employees with no mention whatsoever of getting the compression raises State LEO appears to be set to get. So we get the same raise as the other non officer state employees that make what we do when they have an extra 3 billion lying around. The Teamsters are a frickin joke period if this doesn't change.

Teamsters don't have the political connections in Tallahassee, pure and simple. Hopefully people will wake up soon.
