Stand up guys and lay down girls......... what's up with the three female Sergeants promoted to Lt's.? All at Taylor, each in the same "special" circle as the other. Any thoughts??

You know the old adage, two things rule the world money and sex. It's the same in DOC. You will have to figure out which one in this case. Oh and to be fair, there is also hunting, fishing and chewing tobacco ;D ;D ;D.

Well first, they all have many years in the department. Second, they had many years as sergeant. Third, instead of whining, they put the paperwork in and promoted. I guess the "special circle" in this case is being qualified? Or maybe it shoulda been you? Nothing but the truth, if you really work at Taylor, I'm ashamed of you. I guess maybe you do work for the devil. RB

No offense but being qualified is a joke in DOC. However me personally it's nice to see the shoe on the other foot. You know maybe some males can f*ck their way up the food chain. Close your mouth and don't act like it doesn't go on. ;D

Being qualified isn't the joke, its the qualified people that aren't applying themselves that's the joke. They complain, and cry, and whine about how bad things are and how wrong everything is....but when the chips are down, they don't step up, and they don't try to make things better. just so much lip-service.
Next time you hear someone crying about their supervisor, whether its a Sgt or a Colonel, ask them if they have their paperwork in to replace them. If they so no, ask why. They'll say stupid crap like 'I dont have the points' or 'I wont get it', or 'I like my days off'...tell them to STFU.
Let the administration tell you no, don't say no to yourself. Put the paperwork in and see what happens. If days off are whats stopping you, you are a joke...change is never easy, and if you wont even sacrifice days off for a year or two, how can you expect someone else to sacrifice even more to affect change.
If you have 3 to 5 years at your current rank, and you don't have your paperwork in for promotion, I don't even want to hear you. If you're at a place where the cutoff is 5 to 7 years, and you aren't seriously considering a transfer to somewhere with a lower cutoff...you aren't doing all you can to fix things.
Blame the reason why on whatever you want, make all the excuses you can, but ultimately you're the reason why some of this deadweight is in power right now....their ambition was greater than yours. They won, and will continue to win, until more of us step up and make the hard choices.

I'm just tired of staff acting like inmates. They're quick to say 'I wouldnt take that, you oughta do/say something!'....but they're to weak/scared to practice what they're preaching. Bunch of people willing to try to pump you up, and send you off, but almost none willing to stand with you.

I choose to try and promote, and speak my mind as I do. If that stops me from getting promoted, at least I didn't drop out and let the suck-ups win by default.

Point system and Affirmative action, control Lieutenant and above promotions. The promotion board can select anyone of the 3 top interviewees. The reason there is sooo much crap, is the piss poor management not doing the work/action to see that the crap can not be promoted.

Given that only 'they' are applying isn't helping much. If the ratio was closer to 50/50 us/them, it would be better. The point system sucks, true. The control promo system sucks also. Both can be mitigated though, if quality people with high points actually take the time to stop b*tching, and apply. The ones that get an interview are the top entry point applicants....the more 'we' can get in the application process, the fewer of 'them' will even get an interview. If we can load the interviews with 'our' people, they wont have a choice but to promote one of us....if all three top pointers are our people, we win no matter what. 'They' know this, which is why 'they' are over represented. 'They' dont seem to give up, and 'we' do. To answer your question, brucifer: Yes, my paperwork is in. Kudos for the passive aggressive attempt to call me out as a hypocrite though.
