Has the rule changed everywhere or is this one of those individual unit only rules. The rule I am speaking of is that IF a person retires and draws a check or cashes out then they return after the allotted time, after probation they do not get their past years of service toward future promotion. they only receive points for the current time they are employed. Example a 20 year veteran retires and cashes out now returns. The probation period is over and they put in to promote to Sergeant. The points are tallied up and all they get credit for in seniority is 1 year. Right or wrong? I am not opening up a debate on correctness of the procedure. I just want to know if this is a statewide policy or an individual unit trying to promote persons of their choosing.
