This badge Upon My Chest
Let me tell you something A little bit about me Let me show you a part of myself That other people don’t see I am strong and proud I will always stand my ground I sit back and watch people They don't realize I am around I listen to every word I see from all sides Watching and waiting For someone to change strides I am a Correctional Officer That's why I am this way "You just don't look the part" I have heard so many say I wear my uniform proudly It's the biggest part of me I take pride in my career That's what my co-workers see I live and breathe my job I make sure inmate's don't roam But pride is the only thing I will ever take home This career is not for everyone It is a low gratifying job I see and put up with so much stuff That would make other people sob So this is just a little glimpse Of what is inside of me It is the officer that I am Most people will never see But I keep my mind focused On the job that I do best I wear my uniform proudly With a badge upon my chest

no one besides a correctional officer would ever understand this, but i applaud you.i was told when i started don't bother talking to no c/o's about what you see and hear because they would never understand what we go through and it's true.so again i applaud you.

I don't remember where I found this....I think maybe someone on myspace sent it to me....but here's another good one......
The Keepers of This Town
They finally caught the killer and the key has been thrown away, You can erase him from the headlines and go on about your day.
I hope that you feel safer and I hope you get more sleep, I'll take it from here as this killer I will keep.
I'll leave my gun outside the door and holster up my wits, I'll step into a town of hate and knives and balled up fists.
I'll bust the drugs and stop the hit and keep the weak from rape, I'll call the day a good one if we all go home after eight.
I walk alone amongst the criminals, sometimes twenty-two hundred strong, No doors to separate us...just a radio to make a call.
They see the car I drive to work, they know my name and face, And some of us are hunted down when we leave this place.
I do a job that most can't do and some quit out of fear, And I take pride as I serve and protect the ones that you hold dear.
To get to you they have to go through me and I won't lie down, So spare a thought or prayer for us, the keepers of this town... - Unknown Author
