So if I quit today I'll get paid for all 228 hours of S/C and 240 of A/L plus 25% of my S/L. If I stay I lose 75% of my A/L over 360 and hope to win in a possable lawsuite. God I love this job! No protest line. No media coverege. Just sit and hope things get better. Florida Department of Corrictions- Take It Or Leave It I think what I read is they are trying to set a timetable (on DOC only at this time officially - not on FHP and the rest of state officers ) to get rid of S/C payouts entirely in 5 years.

People can scream at me all they want but it is no secret we are being dealt with worse than other state officers and in my opinion its due to who is representing us as they put a target on us with the Rep controlled legislature which will remain the same for the next 2 years at least. Even their Tally connection is a former Dem who will get absolutely no favors from the legislature. At least the other one has enough sense to have some connections with the people that actually have a little power there. My guess is you will see no gains for anyone there but DOC will continue to take it worse than other state employees with things when we used to actually get things that most other state employees didn't. That is probably the sad reality as the public has jumped on the anti-union thing now big time as well.

Step 1- Don't give cost of living payroll increases. Step 2 - Lower Retirement package value Step 3- Impose 12 hour shifts (lowering personnel needs) Step 4- Force Spec. Comp. leave use (Forcing Anl./Leave cap to flush into Sick/Leave account (With a 25% cash value.) Step 5- Show the better package offered by privet company's. Step 6- Privatizes Prisons with workforce backing!!! Just Thinking

Just Thinking Don't agree with 5 or 6 as they dont pay much now especially considering benefits included but they do want to shrink the payouts that is for sure as the privates usually sign they will pay that upon privatization - at least I think they had that in the proposal sent out by the state this last time.

CONTRACT BARGAINING MOVES TO THE SECOND ROUND A few days ago the contract bargaining team returned from spending 3 days in Tallahassee meeting with DMS to negotiate the best deal for its members. TEN Correctional, DCF, and Correctional Probation Officers throughout the State gathered in advance to craft revisions to the existing language in our contract and we came to the bargaining table prepared. DURING OUR FIRST ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS, we shared workplace and personal testimonies with the DMS so that they would understand the challenges our employees are facing. THIS TIME, we put our money where our mouth is and submitted proposed changes to 17 of the existing contract articles including the addition of a new article expanding the department's code of conduct in the workplace so that it now applies to management as well. Additionally, we sought WAGE INCREASES FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE BARGAINING UNIT with employees having over 7 years or more receiving a 7% pay raise. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE; better access to your union representative, alternative proposals to the required use of special compensatory leave, that protect your leave balances; probation officer safety including carrying weapons in the probation offices, enhanced officer protection through the grievance and discipline procedures, revisions to lay off and transfer requests, and many other changes that will only strengthen our contract and our Union. Local 2011 is committed to its members of the bargaining unit and because the negotiating team is comprised of your fellow officers, "our" success is "your" success. The third round of negotiations are scheduled for early JANUARY 2013 so watch out for more updates. In the meantime, you can prepare for the upcoming legislative session expected to begin in March 2013. The recent announcement that Florida is expected to have a $437 million budget surplus for the next fiscal year is a boon to our cause so contact your local legislature and let your voice be heard. Let them know who you are and what your issues are. This personal contact goes a long way towards moving our issues to the forefront of the legislature

Teamsters will get nothing from the Republican controlled legislature after endorsing Obama. So far they have been nothing but a bad joke.

Teamsters will get nothing from the Republican controlled legislature after endorsing Obama. So far they have been nothing but a bad joke. Due to last year's legislative session, and many of us hitting these Republicans with cold hard facts, having proof, and seeing privatization fail not just here, but in other agencies, and states is paying off. Not to mention the budget surplus projected for next year. More republicans are starting to listen to us. I feel this will be a better year than last year.

The legislature is already making excuses on why not to spend the surplus on state employees.

The legislature is already making excuses on why not to spend the surplus on state employees. Then WALK into THEIR offices and tell them that their excuses SUCK! I plan on, and already have made phone calls, written letters, and am starting to work on getting a group together to walk into a few offices in town. DO THE SAME, or SHUT UP AND COLOR!!!!!!!

EVERYTHING Drauka posted is absolutely the truth. On a side note a surplus means that those who voted in the Legislature were correct. Now it is time to remind the Legislature that fixing what was broken by hardship and hanging tough through the hard times means that some sort of reward is deserved to those who hung tough to help out with the crisis. they only get that message from those who sacrificed. so step up and either do it yourself by notifying them or through the current collective bargaining unit by being a member to get the numbers up. No that does not mean my objections to them have changed. I am being realistic though and accepting that for now Local 2011 is doing what needs to be done to help staff.

It's a right to work State you ain't changing it Tarzen, oh either is the Teamsters. Hey dopey, Yes it is a right to work state. BUT, the representation is needed to allow all to receive wage and benefit increases. Same as when PBA had the job. It is called "Collective Bargaining Unit". Do you have the least bit of a clue as to what that means? I remember ones like you during the PBA years. All loudmouthed and tough guy but no way in the world were you going to get off of your soapbox long enough to show up in Tallahassee because it was "your time" and why should I do that? IF it had been left up to those like that region 1 would have continued being paid less than the other regions *(Yes stupid I know there are not 5 regions now). BUT when the paycheck did get a bump was it ONLY the PBA members who got it? NOPE EVERY SINGLE ONE got the bump. maybe you are so new to this game that you have no idea what happened in the dark ages of the 1990s, maybe you just forget because you are so old. Either way either stand up and fight for something or don't. But do not just stir the pot because you are an ignorant individual. BTW look at my karma before you respond. I have been one of the more vocal on here about my distaste for the Teamsters as a whole. However I understand whom is representing us to the state, and therefore whom currently receives monetary support from me. Do I like it? Nope not one bit. IF and when PBA tries to get their act together and toss Jimmie Bairdii out on his fat lazy kiester and then attempt to recoup the CBU for correctional officers will I be in favor of it? You bet you candy azz I will. In the mean time though I understand what has to be done.
