Another Black eye for FDOC IMMOKALEE — A state-certified correctional officer is accused of arranging with an undercover Collier sheriff’s deputy to exchange $600 and 10 hydrocodone tablets for introducing contraband into a state prison. Joshua David Frierson, 32, of Punta Gorda, who is assigned to the Charlotte Correctional Institution in Punta Gorda, was arrested Friday at 1630 Lake Trafford Road in Immokalee, Collier County sheriff’s records show. Frierson is charged with bribery and trafficking opium. According to a sheriff’s report, Frierson made a request on Dec. 8 for $500 in exchange for the introduction of contraband into the correctional facility. The request was made to an undercover Collier County sheriff’s deputy and the suspect later requested $600 and 10 hydrocodone tablets, records show. Then on Dec. 16, according to a report, Frierson meet with the undercover deputy in Immokalee and accepted the $600 and 10.6 grams (about 3.7 ounces) of hydrocodone, a synthetic opioid.
