Sadly, we have lost one of our own to an act of violence. Many of you will remember Bryan as a tough leader who demanded the best from his staff. I will remember him as my friend. God Bless his family and I wish them peace in this time of great tragedy. Rest in Peace, Charles "Bryan" Welch.

Bryan was also my friend. He impacted many in DC. Those of us who knew him were blessed. He recognized the worth and talents of all individuals and did his best to nurture and develop them for the benefit of all.

I helped teaching him the job as corrections officer at Florida State Prison in 81 where he started his career . He was a good kid then and we knew he would advance . Though the years I watched and was proud of him as he climbed the ladder . Rest in Peace .

I learned a lot from ole Bryan, from duck hunting to fishing and yep....corrections too... on his way up the ladder he always said "if your going to go into battle, you might as well be the general"......meaning he had warden on his mind..he was a Lt. then..going to miss him...by the way......psycho that shot him got a 20 yr. sentence....minus 4 hundred and some odd days jail time credit....RIP my friend....
