You are soooo right about the recent promotions not being in line with written policy. 3 persons were promoted down south who were not eligible and those that were eligible were passed over. Does that tell those of us who were eligible that we are not worthy of promotion? ricodos What 3 persons "down south" are you referring to?

It looks to me that Ms. V is promoting the folks who have been loyal to her and have remained in region 4 and/or took reassignments that they knew would be detrimental to their promotional status. I mean, all of the camps south of Charlotte are career busters. If you promote to chief at any of those miami camps, you are not going to get any love from that promotional procedure due to the audits. I am not bashing all miami area staff, but most of them have poor work ethics and are only waiting on a call from the County, or live from discipline to discipline for attendance. They have little knowledge of the procedure and even less concern. Thats why they went outside the procedure (in my opinion).

Favoritism and corruption are alive and well in region III and IV not a surprise. One of the newly promoted Major's has under 10 years too......

I am at SFRC and sad to say we lost F.Acosta that got promoted to Colonel at DADE CI. however extremely happy to say we have a Colonel that is a dumb red neck coming from a chicken camp or a forestry camp with no idea how a reception center operates . Col.Colon is the best thing that ever happen to SFRC. Additionally , for those of you that are feeling your facial holes saying Marlow is garbage , i can agree to some extend however he is very smart n knows what he is doing due to his extensive policy and procedural knowledge. he will be an asset to Col Acosta in Dade and his 9 nine years of experience will be more than enough , i prefer 9 years of experience over 1 year of experience 20 times !!!! just something to think about !! experience is not always the best , Knowledge is the most powerful tool !!!

The old one has validation of top candidates on page 12 and was vague. the new 208.005 which was changed after I filed my complaints is a little clearer. The new stuff is now on page 13 Mr. Whitehurst was the only one that did his homework and actually answered the question even though Abdul Wasi's signature is in the email. Looks like changing the rules is easier than doing the right thing. A Nice Thank you to Mr. Whitehurst

how can you say Col. Colon is the best thing that ever happened to SFRC, the man sent an inmate to CFRC without notifing anyone and without the proper documentation and got written for it.

Interesting point. But obviously it did not stop a promotion or a transfer did it?. Very interesting how all of that transfer took place. More interesting is why no one told him before hand that he was violating policy.....

wow I'm impressed by the amount of idiots DOC has hired in the past years! If Col.Colon would have sent an inmate to CFRC without approval from population management he would be fired now ! I can beleive that from any of those rednecks that come down from region 1,2 or 3 that Dont know how to type in a 283 or complete a use of force report and just want some rank not even with CDC access! however they all end up either getting fired , they resigned , or get transfered because they think with 1 year of experience 20 times ( they claim 20 years) they can run things down here in SFRC. Well i got news for you all stay up there with the chickens and cattle cuz downhere is the real deal only individuals like Col.Colon or Col. Acosta can manage and properly handle this preasure! R.Marlow may only have 10 years but he is smarter than all these rednecks that all they know how to do is talk about deers and what tobacco to chew !! Idiotic invesiles thats what they all are !! Demotions for them all ! here they come !

Well i got news for you all stay up there with the chickens and cattle cuz downhere is the real deal.........all they know how to do is talk about deers and what tobacco to chew.....! I have been to SFRC numerous times and if most of the staff I saw were not wearing a brown uniform you could not tell them apart from the inmates. Gold grills, jacked up hair cuts, neck tattoos, gang tattoos, sloppy a$$ uniforms, speech, non English, Ebonics etc.. (should not even hit that topic, it might turn into a racial issue) Yeah we have some idiots up here, but look at the corruption and dirty staff bringing in contraband. YOUR convicts cry when they come to region 2, because they cant smoke out all day and chill with their ipods and cell phones, then go hit ole girl in the dorm or food service. We may have good ole boy but you all have what??? good ole gangster/thug.

Infantryman you have got it dead on. I
've went to South Florida Recount Center plenty of times and left wide eyed every time. I know it's a reception center and I know they have med appts from all over the region but on day one as a CO I learned when it's count time, you make all the inmates stop moving instead of trying to count them like chickens in a barnyard.
One time I went down there and we were transferring a jit to them and he didn't want to get it thought his head to shut the f up and get with the program, and right there in the middle of medical in an observation cell a T&R CO throws the dumbass against the well and after getting his complete and undivided attention explains life to him. Now I'm all about giving a dumb ass jitterbug an attitude tune up, but in the middle of medical with about a 100 inmates walking around in a cell where anybody can see in, is just crazy. The only thing I could do was put my body in the doorway and hope to give the guy some privacy.
Now those are my positive experiences. The worst is I was there one time for some training and when I commented on the fact that some of the COs down there looked like they came in with the Mr. T starter kit on, an inspector let it slip that over half their TEAs were already under investigation. And kid you not, later that day an inmate on his way to the box yells out to a newbie, "they're on to us dawg, they're on to us." Whew!

Oh and there is only one type of deer up here, so we don't talk about deers (this would refer to different types of deer).
