I'm glad we wont be getting compression. I hope they take the 3% raise away too. I hope you all get your wish and the Teamsters drop us for being the whiny never-happy-titty-babies we are. I hope all your darkest nightmares come to pass. I'm voting the nihilist vote: burn this motha down!! Bring on privatization!!

Teamsters don't have the political connections in Tallahassee, pure and simple. Hopefully people will wake up soon. That is how I see it also if this stands and we are left out. You have to pay to play in politics and that will never happen with this legislature and the Teamsters and the same power players will be in charge for the next few years at least. The PBA imo at least will play both sides of the aisle focusing on who is in charge and can actually give us extra raises over other state employees and work behind the scenes to make it happen in good budget years like this and not have us scrambling to make something happen at the end.

Well I am still hoping for a minor miracle despite the pitiful representaion the Teamster lobbyists/business agents/Trustees and the rest gave us. There is a few stewards that deserve blame also but I think for the most part the rest are trying to do what is best for us but the problem is that isn't what gets extra raises and the rest from the Florida legislature - you have to play the game of politics and that means financially to get your objectives usually. I would love to see a breakdown of where the Teamsters spent CO dues as I bet it would shock us probably and then compare it to how the PBA spent their State Officer dues as far as the FL legislature goes. I would love to also see what % of the dues coming in were spent with the FL legislature between PBA and the Teamsters. My guess is that would shock some people also. The Teamsters have conned us from day one - floating that BS lawsuit story telling us they could get us OT for picking our equipment up etc. prior to shift when that was already settled case law in FL just to get more votes and now these characters are floating stories trying to lay blame on everyone but them if we get screwed out of the compression raises the PBA Officers look like they are going to get in this great budget year with billions extra. Lets see ? Dont forget under the PBA FHP got a raise one year you didn't. (failing to mention that was a terrible budget year and it was Rubio's sole mission to give it to them). Now I hear some BS the agents put out to some stewards is that if we get screwed it is on DOC and Secretary Crews because they were slow on some wage report or some nonsense. The Teamsters are our bargaining agent not PBA or DOC when it comes to securing raises with the legislature. No if we don't get the same the PBA people get it is because the Teamsters have no clue what they are doing or refuse to spend the money in the way they need to to help their Officers get extra. Their talk is a joke just like the BS their truck drivers fed everyone in the parking lots when most of us fell for their nonsense.

The jury is no longer out - The Teamsters are a joke like I thought they would be. Still can't believe how many of us bought the BS from the truck drivers they sent to the facilities. "House and Senate budget negotiators Saturday agreed to raises for state workers, the first in six years. The deal would provide a $1,400 pay hike for state employees who make less than $40,000 a year and $1,000 for those who earn more than that. In addition, bonuses of up to $600 would be available as merit incentives, which would be available to up to 35 percent of employees. In a move sought by Senate budget chief Joe Negron, R-Stuart, the pay package unveiled Saturday includes an additional 3 percent pay raise for law enforcement officers working for state government, and another 2 percent pay hike for officers with more than five years’ experience.Negron said he wanted to raise salaries to help retain experienced officers, who are often hired away by municipal police forces once they get trained by the state."

Now on the FDOC Teamsters Facebook page they are talking lawsuit on the raises. That would be even more of a joke than the joke lawsuit they filed on getting equipment time prior to shift that was already settled in court. The legislature controls that not the courts and unfortunately can give it to whoever they vote to give it to.

Anything on facebook about Local 2011 needs to be taken with a giant grain of salt. Read the official website for statements on the Unions intentions. I found the facebook page you're citing, I think. It's definitely not in any way officially sanctioned. fdocteamsters.unionactive.com/

I have a question.
How is it that when it comes to working us more than 80 hours a pay period we count as "law enforcement" for the FLSA exclusions but when it comes to raises we're not "law enforcement"?
Must be nice to get to play both sides against the middle.

Must be nice to get to play both sides against the middle. None of that matters. All that matters is who is designated from what is in the line items of the budget. They can call it whatever they want but if you arent in the provisio language for extra you don't get it. Messed up isn't it.

Must be nice to get to play both sides against the middle. When every one wanted the messed up shifts I pointed that out. It was like I was talking in a deep dark cave when I would say it. Seems odd that now it has come to pass that they did exactly what i told people what they would do. Change definitions to suit their purposes. But as pointed out by lawton this point is irrelevant.

They have no control and all they care about is having a carcass in each critical slot. If you think other wise you are mistaken. The Warden and his/her lackeys will not care either.
