Infantryman you have got it dead on. ! Thanks for the comment, I did not want to start a region 2 vs 4 war but really how can some one run their mouth when their back yard is soooooo fu*ked up. They probably have some hard working, jam up people working down there. But they are overshadowed by the scumbags I saw over and over again. If you don't believe me go to the back a fill up on gas and see convicts chilling with wet willy's cups, and the CO's bsing on PERSONAL sprint cell phones. OOH and the 305 arm tattoo and the new york yankee sign on the neck tattoo really made me proud to wear the same uniform.

I just wanted to say this is NOTHING NEW see the time stamp, ooh and I see nothing has changed. Re: South Fl Officer dress code « Reply #23 on 22 Sept, 2005, 23:58 »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I thought I was in a rap video when I went on transport to Miami. One male officer (sgt) had so much gold in his mouth he could open a jewelry store. He also had his left eyebrow shaved in three places. He also had the old button up shirt, with 2 to 3 buttons un done and a Mr T. starter set around his neck. Maybe it is cool to wear that "bling bling" in the hood, but not at work. I swear he looked like a convict. It made the fat out of shape guy that drove down with me...somehow look more professional...only by comparison. I think the shift OIC should conduct a uniform inspection prior to posting the shift (heck some people cant even get to work on time to do this....but thats another thread). I feel they way the staff dresses is a direct reflection on the chain of command.

Hooah Infantryman! It seems to me that South Florida will hire ANYBODY with a heartbeat. You can't tell me that these gang-bangers haven't figured out how to get their homeboys in a brown suit. It has been this way since the 80's my friend and nothing has changed. Hell, the FLDC use to hire ex-convicts to wear the brown several decades ago. It was nothing to have a felony conviction and get a job. It has always been who you know! It's 2009 and the promotional system is being manipulated still. I have seen a Colonel give all the oral review and promotional test answers to his "Pet" in order for him to make the cut. I've seen a Warden call the Colonel and tell him to remove a person already selected for promotion so that he could promote his golfing and fishing buddy. It has always been a dirty game and if you're not on the team, you done! Last but not least, I've seen a CO1 that knew more that any Captain and yet he never was promoted because he was not liked by the administration. He finished a 27 year career as an Officer and yet never complained. I could not tell you how many Sgt. interviews that he applied for because I quit counting. Although, a "Rookie" CO1 with 13 months could get promoted and a CO1 could go from Officer to Captain in one promotion, go figure.....the crazy thing is, after all these years, I sometimes miss it.....

Isn't it protocol to call and let CFRC know that you are bringing an inmate? That is what was being spoken of. The officer just showed up with the inmate and the temp transfer order. The information that the inmate was to be received was never conveyed to CFRC.
STOP WITH THE NAME CALLING. We are all to be on the same team. It is Blue or Brown! Why can't you guys get that through your thick heads?
Oh, that's right, I am old school.....

Yes it is policy to call and advise the other institution that you are headed their way with an inmate on transfer orders. Now this could be fixed if the receiving institution made that inmate and Officers wait a few hours while they confirmed this. I fault the administration for Failure to follow instructions. Old school now I love that. I am that way most of the time unless corruption and favoritism are involved then I just go on the offensive. That's something new in the last 5 years too. That's another story in itself....

I have worked in 3 different Regions. They all have their own unique issues/problems etc. As Sassy typed, let's not name call we are suppose to be on the same team (maybe, sometimes). As the system expands, promotions will probably get stranger every time the list comes out. I recall someone just receiving their Degree from FSU, and being made the Classification Supervisor at a Facility in Region V. Another is Major from the street.

But just getting a degree from FSU and is now the classification supervisor. That's ridiculous. No experience at all fresh from school and just one step below Asst warden too. and a Major with no experience how horrible. Some of us with 16 years and a degree can't get that. I also agree with the name calling problem too we need to try and be on the same sheet of music anyway...

INFANTRYMAN I agree with the quality of staff, the uniform apparel , the golds and the lack of professionalism however this discussion was intended to aim at wether Colonel Colon should have been promoted or not . Based on my experience I can Honestly say he is as of right now the most qualified individual to hold that position .Some are in disagreement due to their lack of understanding and their excessive amount of hate. He busted his ass along with Colonel Acosta and got that facility to have only 13 findings compared to the last audit which was 58. There may be some individuals that can be qualified enough to have the desire to efficiently run a receptions center however I have yet to see one come from up north and do so successfully . These two man worked hard and will continue to work harder to accomplish what they deserve and they will . They are both brite , young and full of applicable knowledge which is better than vegetating experience.

r402sgt, I do not know the administration side of your discussion, I just got my feathers a bit ruffled on the other parts of your post.
But hey thats why we are on here, to discuss things, and our opinions of DC.
Good luck to you.

Who is going to get the Captain's position at Brevard C.I.? Any word? Probably Wilson, since he's been acting captain for almost a year.

Good choice, he started for his 2nd time as an Officer shortly before I left DOC. There have been so many changes over the years.
Blackwood - Asst Warden (Brand new Officer then) ~ WOW!! Natile - Captain (One of the best) (Sgt. then) Bieker - Captain (Sgt. then) Elvin - Captain (Officer then) D. Bears - Lieutenant (Officer then) Armstrong - Lieutenant (Officer then) McNaughton - Lieutenant (Not there then) Bernhart - Lieutenant (Officer then) Baker - Lieutenant - (Sergeant then)
What ever happened to:
Bullock? Cruce? Richardson? Murphy? Cope? Comis? rogers? Grose? Puligo?

All of those you mentioned have retired from the Department. I believe Richardson went back to work for a private prison.
