Yes, the Secretary and Deputy Secretary was there. McN even spoke at the Service. All Regional Directors were there and I did observe Wardens and Asst. Wardens, as far away as SFRC, ZCI, Taylor etc. I even saw a couple of persons that had been retired for a few years. JB of PBA was there. My BEEF is with the FHP, and all other State Law Enforcement. If the FHP can not support us then why should I support them thru my PBA dues. Still awt. response from PBA. Over 24 hours, Ha, Ha, Ha.

Smoke, It may be time to stop sending in my dues to PBA. I could stomach no raise, and FHP getting one. FHP in limelight and very few to give a raise. I CAN NOT STOMACH THEM NOT SHOWING UP TO THE MEMORIAL. Lets see pay no dues, get same contract (benefits), still can grieve, State provides lawyer under color of law,and the representatives, heck I can read and I have seen them make some mistakes and afraid at times to CONFRONT management. Now what do I lose, only money by belonging, oh and the brotherhood of FHP.

Sent 2nd email to PBA, still awt the 24 hour response time. for info on why no show. I figured if I drop PBA and since I ride a steel horse it will almost pay for the gasoline, at the present cost. I believe that all Correctional Officers should drop PBA and see if the 1,400 more/less FHP can pay their salaries . I think I have written PBA my last check . I can hardly wait for the next telephone call from FHP, wanting me to donate money. ;D ;D

Heard from JB, Informed me that some said he did not attend, but I observed him. He related an Officer from Madison, said he saw FHP. Still trying to verify that info. I got there at 11:00AM, 4th vehicle in grass parking area and watched just about everyone arrive. Even saw McN arrive. GS and Ms "V" were also early arrivals. JB related the State Jail issue has been brought up before, but laws would have to be changed an of course appropriations I am checking on some info I received and will put it out when I verify.

I was standing next to you when we saw Sapp, Miss V and Biardi.. SO while I somehow missed the Sec and his asst... I DID see those 3!! along with a regional director or two... but none of the motorcycles that were parked in front of us were FHP, you'd think that there would have been a couple in the motorcade if they were there, considering they are a fellow State officers?? but then I am being logical!

Let's see, DOC has what 22,000 members in the state, not sure how many are in the PBA, but i bet there are a lot more DOC then FHP in the PBA, cancel your membership, see if they can survive off 1000 members.

Bru, I have been with DOC over 19 years, never gave 1 dollar to PBA and never will. The way i figure is if you do your job the state has to defend you. So far that has been the case. Has anyone seen the BIG house the PBA man lives in? Once you do your dues will stop. Every one be safe.

Yes, an a couple of Rhode Island State Troopers and a California Correctional Officer. BUT NO FHP. Let the FHP have the PBA. Save your money. FHP belonged to PBA, did not get their way quit went to IPUA did not get their way quit, now back to PBA. Rehab is for quitters, they all must be in rehab. Something is not correct in this picture. Just because FHP has State troopers on their cars it does not mean they are, they are not. They just one of Florida's revenue collectors.

Just thought I would share....
Officer Fitzgerald's name and memorial have been removed from the Offcier Down Memorial Page (odmp.org) website. Several people at work were speculating and I emailed them to find out why. The reason was that the FDOC did not nominate Officer Fitzgerald for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
I have no reason to doubt that this is true, but correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the state just have a dedication for her in June and isn't her name is on the DOC Webpage memorial? What is the state waiting for? Nominate her already so she can be added to the national registry.
